Today Future Politicians of America hosted a town hall on public education in Hillsborough County. Speakers included Senator Tom Lee, Rep. Mike Beltran, School Board Member Cindy Stuart, School Board Member Melissa Snively, HCTA President Rob Kriete, and Parent-Teacher Association President Damaris Allen. We talked about a range of issues, from the prevalence of standardized testing to bussing to the issue of guns in schools. Moreover, we talked about the state taxes towards education and how they were being implemented in Hillsborough. Afterwards, students asked the speakers questions and discussed other education-related issues.
On a side note, we are proud to announce that this was the largest education town hall Hillsborough County has seen in years and it's all thanks to our amazing members!
